Gray Areas

2019  ·  Photography  ·  Large format inkjet printing

Grayish landscapes reveal French countryside dotted with solitary iron figures accessorized with strange white boxes. Adorned with colorful cables, these figures provide citizens access to a land of freedoms: the Internet.

While scientists are still investigating the potential effects of those airwaves in living creatures, these figures spring up from the ground like mushrooms in increasingly whimsical forms, sometimes disguised as a synthetic tree, other times adorned with the cross of Jesus at the top of a church.

Photographs taken in the Centre-Val de Loire region and then in random places in Google Street View.
