Google, thank you for helping me remember my childhood. April 2008

Google, thank you for helping me remember my childhood. April 2008 is a desktop documentary that evokes my childhood memories through the window of Google Street View, a tool that has become both a mechanical archive and a mapping of our lives. Traversing digitally through my childhood street captured by the Google Car in 2008, I discovers fragments of abandoned memories, halfway between nostalgic exploration and critical investigation, revealing the fragility of a digital memory subject to algorithmic vagaries. But where are these memories stored? This critical documentary reveals the contours of a dematerialized memory, destined to escape from the vapors of distant data centers.

This video was shown at the “histoires de famille” exhibition at the Orléans Higher School of Art and Design as part of France Design Week and the En construction permanente exhibition cycle, from September 19 to October 15, 2024.
